Favorite Vignette?
We have been reading The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. What is your favorite vignette so far and why? If you don’t remember the name of it, describe it. Try to remember as many details as you can.
The vignette that I like is, Louie, his cousin and his other cousin because it tells that some people with different cultures do not have many things. The example that is in the vignette is when Louie and a couple of Louie’s friends were playing volleyball in the ally, a Yellow Cadillac pulls up. The Yellow Cadillac had a scarf around the mirror and the interior was white. Also the doors were stripped with white lines. After a while of driving around the block, they pull back up in the ally, where a parole officer was sitting and waiting to arrest the diver. After the driver spotted the cop, he pulled out of the ally and tried to make a left turn, but ended up hitting a lamppost. With the car’s head totaled and the driver with a bloody lip and a bruised forehead, got in the cop car and while he left, the kids waved as he disappeared in the horizon. This is the vignette that I chose.
I think that my favorite vigenette is earl from tennessee. This is my favorite because it really made me think what kind of person this guy really is and if he is trying to hide something. After Ms. Ehid telling me what her opinion was on who he really is,it really cleared things up. She told me to reread and it really stood out. That earl was a pimp and that he was bringing home prositute's,beacuse very person saw someone eles. So that is why it is my favorite vignette.
My favorite vignette was "Boys and Girls" because its about how Esperanza and her sister and brother get along home and talk, but when there outside of home the boys don't talk to the girls. They don't even look at them. Only Esperanza's sister stays with her.
My favorite vignette is Hairs. This is my favorite because it shows that you can have different hair then other members. But not only hair may be different. Your height and other characteristics may be different.
To be honest, I don't really enjoy this book. Its starts to get exciting but then the author leaves you hanging, wondering what happens next. If I was to have a favorite it would have to be Louie, His Cousin and His Other Cousin because it has a car chase that quickly ends.
